Is your work meaningful?

Meaningful work is a basic human desire. We ask ourselves, am I happy? Is my work a source of fulfillment?

The Business of Food with sponsorship from Business Victoria and Brimbank City Council, as part of the Business Victoria Local Events Program is running a food incubator program to help small businesses and entrepreneurs take their existing recipe to a scalable new level. Learn how to create a product that can be sold at retail, café or restaurant locations. It was a program like this that helped Tully Chanana make his food business dreams come true.

“It was a moment for me to wake up, I can’t live like this for the rest of my life. If somebody asked me on my deathbed what did you do with your whole life, all I can tell them is I worked nine to five. I bought a house; I bought a car and I watched a lot of television. I want to say I made a difference in someone's life. This is my chance to make a difference.”

Tully wants to impact the health of people and the planet with his business for vegan takeaway meals, which thanks to the program is now a compliant food product ready for supermarkets.

Through The Business of Food Incubator Program, five participants will have access to some of the best minds of the Melbourne food ecosystem. Incubator founder, Jane Del Rosso a food business coach with over 10 years’ experience will share her extensive knowledge. Joined by Michelin Starred Chef, Lasse Povlsen, who has worked for Supernormal, Cumulus Inc. and Cutler & Co, will take entrepreneurs through the process of perfecting their recipes. The knowledge provided by our experts is key to producing a market ready product in only eight sessions.

The Business of Food Incubator Program is a group learning environment, for 5 participants, set to commence on October 8th and run until December 4th for one day a week. The group will learn the following skills:

  • Valuable time management skills while working full time. The Incubator Program will assist you to create focused time to work on the business, not just in it. You will have one day a week to experiment, test and evolve your business to the next level

  • How to develop yourself If you feel stuck in your current business or want to create change in your life. You will learn how to access the right information and knowledge and support, so your business will grow to the next level

  • How to create a product for validation. Our process removes doubt and sets your new food product up for success

  • How to turn complex food industry regulations into a simple step by step process to produce a ready for market product

  • And you will learn how to source suppliers for ingredients, packaging sourcing and food labelling requirements.

The Business of Food Incubator Program helps take away the feelings of being overwhelmed by allowing you to create something new in a relaxed and focused environment. Participants are supported at every step of the way with a food business coach, a Michelin starred chef and access to a commercial kitchen space during the program.

“Consider this an investment. If you're doing it for the right cause, if you're doing it for the right reason, if you have a purpose, and if you're creating value for the customer this investment will pay off sooner rather than later.” Past Program Participant - Tully Chanana – Kindness On A Plate, Takeaway Vegan Food
